The First Night Raleigh Children’s Celebration will be held on December 31, 2011 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the North Carolina Museum of History, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and on Bicentennial Plaza.Children 5 and under attend for free (when accompanied by a button-wearing adult). Admission buttons are required for Adults and Children ages 6 and up. |

L'Arbre de Hibou (The Owl Tree)
2:00 - 10:00 Make a wish on a feather and flap The Owl Tree's wings to send your hopes for the New Year soaring into the Universe. The Owl Tree is a sculpture created by Massachusetts-based artist Pam Golden. Pam Golden is a professional artist and educator. Her sculpture and site-specific art installations and environmental art works have been exhibited both nationally and throughout New England, including First Night Boston, the Fuller Art Museum, and the Art Complex Museum. Pam's work has been included in several publications and in two books on art and healing. |

Jammin Baby is a licensed provider of Music Together®, the pioneer in early childhood music curriculum and education. Music Together offers a culturally diverse music and movement approach to early childhood music development for children birth to 5 years old. The Music Together curriculum is recognized all over the world and is currently serving families in over 2,000 communities worldwide. For First Night Raleigh, Jammin Baby is partnering with all of the Music Together Directors in the Research Triangle to share all of our talents and our passion for this wonderful program. As of 2012, Music Together classes has grown and now offers classes in Raleigh, Apex, Chapel Hill, Durham, Holly Springs, Cary and Morrisville. Performance Edge Capital Ambassadors
4:45 - 5:30 The Capital Ambassadors are an amazing select group of high school and college students chosen from the pool of young people trained in the Performance Edge Summer Showcase Music camp. These students serve as musical ambassadors in the Capital area and represent more than 25 different schools. Since their beginning in 2003, they have performed for a variety of events (Broadway Rocks event with Terrence Mann and other Broadway stars, YWCA Academy of Women Awards, President Bush's Raleigh visit, WRAL's televised holiday tower lighting, Triangle Community Foundation's 25th Anniversary Gala, various nursing homes, etc.). Lisa Blair-Hawkins is the founder and musical director of this group, and Artistic Director of Performance Edge, Inc. They will perform a variety of songs, ranging from pop to jazz, to Broadway - something for everyone!!! |

Triangle Youth Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet
3:30 - 4:15 The Triangle Youth Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet are all members of the Triangle Youth Philharmonic, a 100-piece full orchestra and the most advanced of the Philharmonic Association's 5 youth orchestras. The members of the Quintet are Ayla Goktan, Flute; Emily Hodges, Oboe; Samuel Sparrow, Clarinet; Michael Elderkin, Bassoon; and Rachel Knierim, French Horn. These high school students come from Raleigh, Cary, Morrisville, and Durham. The current group formed in September and has been coached by NC Symphony Flutist, Mary Boone. They recently performed for the Cary Sister Cities Beaujolais Tasting Fundraiser and for the re-opening of the Richard B. Harrison Library in Raleigh. |
