Caroline Russell, President of the Artsplosure Board of Directors, today expressed the Board’s appreciation to Joyce and Jay for their help and support this year!
Russell noted that Joyce and Jay have been deeply involved with many of the organizations and causes that have created one of the nation’s most livable and prosperous cities.
A member of the UNC School of Journalism’s Hall of Fame, Fitzpatrick is the owner of Fitzpatrick Communications, which specializes in strategic advice to corporations, universities, and non-profit organizations. Prior to founding her own firm, she served as Senior Vice President of Ruder-Finn, one of the nation’s largest and most respected public relations agencies. She has served on numerous art boards, including CAM Raleigh and the NC Museum of Art Foundation. Stewart has worked in the real estate industry and is currently a senior mortgage banker with Residential Mortgage Advisors.
Long-time Cameron Park residents, Joyce and Jay have three children: Marietta, Cyrus, and Ruth Shore.
This year’s First Night Raleigh festivities kick off at 2:00 pm with the new DIY Fest at N.C. Museum of History, N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences and outdoors on the Bicentennial Plaza. The First Night Ferris Wheel and F-5 rides open to the public at 2:00 pm as does Artsplosure’s “Art Putt,” a playable nine-hole miniature golf course created by local artists. Performances on the outdoor Main Stage begin at 5:30 pm The People’s Procession begins at 6 pm Parents can have their children ring in the New Year with the Early Countdown at 7:00 pm An array of evening performances also begin at 7:00 pm in multiple indoor and outdoor venues.
The Countdown to Midnight begins at 9:30 pm and concludes at midnight with the famous Raleigh acorn drop and fireworks finale. We can’t wait to ring in 2018 with you!
